Troubling details emerge from Terrence Clarke car crash

A beloved young Kentucky star and soon-to-be NBA player died in a violent car crash in California this week.

On Thursday, 19-year-old Terrence Clarke was heading back from a workout when his vehicle clipped a truck that was making a left turn and slammed into a pole and then a block wall.

The video from the accident paints in vivid and horrific detail what transpired:

According to Jerry Tipton and Ben Roberts of Kentucky.com, Clarke was traveling southbound on Winnetka Ave. at the intersection with Nordhoff St. in Los Angeles at the time of the accident.

Clarke’s vehicle was reportedly going 80 mph in a 45-mph zone and he was not wearing his seat belt. His car awkwardly ran into a truck that was making a left turn and crashed.

The youngster was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Last year, Clarke averaged 9.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 28.6 minutes per outing. One day before the accident he had reportedly signed with an agent and was preparing for the NBA Draft.

Clarke’s crash is just the latest sad car accident to befall the sports world this year. A few months ago, golf legend Tiger Woods was involved in a crash that might have ended his storied career for good. At the time, that seemed like a truly horrific outcome. After this week’s tragedy, however, we have some perspective on the fragility of life and what’s really important in this world.
