Michael Kim has questioned Keegan Bradley’s bid to play and serve as captain for Team USA at the upcoming Ryder Cup. Kim’s criticism of the U.S. Ryder Cup captain came shortly after Bradley’s dramatic win at the Travelers Championship, which pushed him closer to making the Ryder Cup team as a player.

Kim Cautions: ‘People Getting Caught Up In The Moment’ After Bradley’s Victory

Bradley, who was named the U.S. Ryder Cup captain, is now also chasing a spot on the team as a player. His victory at the Travelers Championship moved him up to 9th in the Ryder Cup points rankings, raising the possibility of him becoming the first playing captain since Arnold Palmer in 1963.

While many fans and experts celebrated Bradley’s achievement, Michael Kim was quick to voice his concern. He took to social media, congratulating Bradley on his win but urging people to keep things in perspective.

“Amazing golf by Keegan at a tournament he cherishes. I just have to say that, people put too much emphasis on a win over a top 3,4. The difference is often one three putt or one misclub in 4 days or 1 out of 250 shots. Keegan can definitely be on the team as a player since he’s an amazing golfer but I think people are getting caught up in the moment after a crazy W. If he had finished 2nd, I don’t think the reaction would be as much. Food for thought.” Kim posted on his official X account.

‘Bradley’s Victory Shouldn’t Mean He Should Be Captain and Player’

Kim believes that while Bradley’s victory was impressive, it does not automatically mean he should take on the pressure of being both a player and the captain at such a high-stakes event like the Ryder Cup. This is because the captain plays a huge role in preparing the team, making strategic decisions, and motivating the players. Kim thinks that adding the pressure of competing as a player could distract from these duties.

Bradley, however, has made it clear that he wants to play if he earns his spot fairly. After his win at the Travelers, he expressed how much the Ryder Cup means to him and how proud he is to lead Team USA. If his ranking continues to climb, there is a real possibility of him being both captain and player.

Arnold Palmer was the last playing captain for Team USA over sixty years ago in 1963. While some fans and fellow players believe Bradley’s passion and recent form make him a good choice to take on both roles, Kim has urged caution, as he fears that dividing his attention could harm the team’s chances.
