The Tampa Bay Rays are catching some jokes over the banner they unveiled on Opening Day.

The Rays hosted the Detroit Tigers at Tropicana Field on Thursday and came away with a 4-0 win. Prior to the game, however, they unveiled a rather lackluster banner which boasted of the team's AL Wild Card spot last fall.

The internet was not having it.

As a refresher, because we wouldn't blame you for forgetting, the Rays went 86-76 last season before being bounced by Cleveland 2-0 in their best-of-three playoff series. They scored one run in two games.

We’re actually celebrating just winning a wild card spot? That’s one step above hanging a banner for being a “2022 MLB participant.”

Recall, the Colts hung a banner saying “2014 AFC finalist” after they lost in the AFC Championship Game 45-7 to the Patriots that season.

Flags fly forever.
