A few years ago, former Baltimore Orioles outfielder Luke Scott caused a stir when he questioned, among other things, the legitimacy of Barack Obama’s birth certificate.
Turns out, baseball’s got another birther in the bunch.
Prior to the 2015 season, Anthony Swarzak left the Minnesota Twins to sign a deal with Cleveland. After pitching just 13 innings for the Tribe…the 29-year-old righty packed his bags and took his game to Korea to play for the KBO Doosan Bears.
Sunday, he channeled his inner Scott, a fellow KBOer, and sounded off on Obama and his support for one Donald Trump.
#Republicans in office are scared of #trump cause they know they can't control him. I want a president that can't be controlled #Trump2016
— Anthony Swarzak (@ASwarzak51) July 26, 2015
#Republicans R scared of #trump. They can't influence him into doing more stuff that's wrong for the country and right for their pockets
— Anthony Swarzak (@ASwarzak51) July 26, 2015
Just so I'm clear. I'm a #Republican and I'm referring to #Republicans that are already in office that don't want #trump becoming president
— Anthony Swarzak (@ASwarzak51) July 26, 2015
Because the internet…Swarzak’s support of the Trumpster got the attention of former Twins outfielder Jacque Jones.
@ASwarzak51 You have 1 now. Ya'll just don't like him.
— Jacque Jones (@JacqueJones11) July 26, 2015
Naturally, this only prompter Swarzak to respond.
@JacqueJones11 don't get me started man. He's only made our country weaker. And what I mean by that is our #military.
— Anthony Swarzak (@ASwarzak51) July 26, 2015
@JacqueJones11 cute the #Army by 40k troops. The navy and marines are the smallest they've been since WW1 and he gave Iran nuclear power
— Anthony Swarzak (@ASwarzak51) July 26, 2015
And then…this.
@JacqueJones11 he doesn't have a birth certificate and was raised a Muslim. He is the 1st and only U.S. President to ever bow to the Saudis
— Anthony Swarzak (@ASwarzak51) July 26, 2015
As one would expect, the Twitter equivalent of baseball’s “boo birds” came out in droves calling out Swarzak and causing his to back pedal a bit. Plus, haven’t we already solved the “Obama doesn’t have a birth certificate” mystery?
Wow. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. This is why I don't tweet lol. My apologies to anyone I offended #onenationoneteam
— Anthony Swarzak (@ASwarzak51) July 26, 2015
Swarzak would take one parting shot though.
I can tell you this. Not many pro baseball players voted for him lol. Probably almost none
— Anthony Swarzak (@ASwarzak51) July 26, 2015
Ouch.
