Rick Hahn met with the media today and was posed with a serious question from CHGO’s Vinnie Duber. Hahn was asked, is this Chicago White Sox lineup championship caliber? Obviously, Hahn went full lawyer and said he thinks it can be with some growth from the young guys.
Asked Rick Hahn if Sox' lineup is championship-caliber one they've envisioned:
"At this time, it can be, absolutely. It’s going to require some growth from our young guys if this is the group we go with in three weeks or three months or six months when the playoffs start. (1/2)

It’s no secret the White Sox had trouble scoring runs last year when games mattered the most. A lot of that could be contributed to the injuries that plagued the team for much of the year too. I just find this amusing. Not because I am trying to be a pessimist, but because, really? Do we really think this lineup is championship caliber? There is still a glaring hole in right field. Spare me the Adam Engel, Gavin Sheets, and Andrew Vaughn trio.
If the White Sox truly want to compete, Hahn needs to fill the holes that still exist within the lineup. The White Sox have been linked to Michael Conforto and a left-handed power bat is much needed. I could go on and on about this, but I’ll stop here. I love that Hahn has confidence, I just wish I believed what he was saying. If they want to win a World Series, they need to be aggressive and make it happen, not just wait in the wings and hope players develop.
