The Iowa Cubs lost to the Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers), 5-1 in a game that ended in rain in the seventh inning. Connor Noland started and took the loss after he gave up five runs on seven hits over 5.1 innings.
Iowa powers to a game one victory, but that’s the end of the good news tonight. After two days of “everyone wins,” we’ve got an “everyone loses” day. At least Iowa also won.
The Smokies win their 7th in a row. Iowa walks it off. The Cubs signed catcher Christian Bethancourt to a minor league deal and assigned him to Triple-A Iowa.

Three losses today, but a win for the I-Cubs. David Bote went on the injured list after taking a pitch in the wrist yesterday. RHP Matthew Thompson was promoted to Iowa from Tennessee, although I assume he’s taking Daniel Palencia’s spot and not Bote’s.
