Heading into Sunday, Klay Thompson had been out of action for two-and-a-half years.
The 31-year-old tore his ACL back in June 2019 and subsequently missed the entirety of the 2019-20 season. There was hope he would be able to return for 2020-21, but an untimely torn Achilles suffered in the preseason put the kibosh on those plans.
Finally, two seasons removed from his last on-court action, Thompson is set to make his return against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday.
One person who is thrilled for his comeback? Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.
James expressed his happiness for Thompson’s return on Twitter:

At this point, even rivals are rooting for Thompson. He’s just such a good guy that it’s impossible not to want to see him succeed.
Nobody is more excited for Thompson’s return than Thompson himself. This is what he posted in the leadup:
Everyone is really looking forward to is him being in the news for is what he does best: lighting opponents up on the court.
The return is here. Thompson is back.
