George responds to negative chants from Utah fans
Paul George Jeffrey Swinger-USA TODAY Sports

Paul George has been a main target for fans due to his shortcomings during playoffs over the last few years. He coined the name “Playoff P” for himself a few years back, which had fans taunting him and calling him “Pandemic P” after another horrible playoffs performance from George last season.

George finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds against the Utah Jazz in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals but shot an abysmal 4-for-17 from the field in 37 minutes.

His terrible shooting performance had Utah fans chanting “overrated” when the 31-year-old guard was shooting late-game free throws.

“I like it,” George said of the chants. “That part doesn’t get to me. It’s all respect. I’ve had good games here and I’ve had bad games here.

“That’s part of this game, to be honest. Crowd’s going to be involved. You want that. As an opposing player, you kind of want that.

“Fact of the matter is, I didn’t shoot the ball well. I thought I was indecisive on my approach. But I will be a little bit better on taking the shots that I want.”

George averaged 23.6 points and nine rebounds per game on 45 percent shooting in the first round against the Dallas Mavericks, which are very solid numbers. He has had a better approach to the playoffs this year, so it will be interesting to see if he can turn things around in Game 2 on Friday.

Can George handle the pressure and help the Clippers bounce back after a tough loss?
