Warriors’ Andrew Wiggins Floated As Kings Trade Target
Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

This season, the Sacramento Kings completely outdid their expectations. While things did not pan out in the NBA postseason, they managed to finish the regular season with the third-best record in the Western Conference.

Led by a pair of All-Star talents in De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, Sacramento is looking to compete in the West for years to come. To do so, they’ll need to work on upgrading the supporting cast around their duo.

Potential trade candidates for the Kings were recently brought up as the offseason gets ready to begin. Among the players mentioned was Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins.

In the scenario, the Kings send Richaun Holmes, Davion Mitchell, a first-round pick, and a first-round pick swap to Golden State in exchange for Wiggins. The former No. 1 pick played in 37 games last season and averaged 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.

For the Kings, Wiggins fits for a variety of reasons. The biggest being on the defensive end. Since joining the Warriors, he has made great strides to be an impactful two-way player. During their championship run in 2022, Wiggins took on multiple big assignments throughout the course of the playoffs. Having a wing defender like this would be huge for the Kings as they look to make it past the first round.

Offensively, Wiggins can slide in as the second scoring option behind Fox. He can create his own shot when needed and is also a reliable kick-out option for Fox or Sabonis. Adding another efficient marksman would give the Kings a pair of sharpshooting forwards to help open up the floor.

Since the Warriors see him as a valuable asset, prying Wiggins away would be easier said than done. However, with his championship experience, he’d be a great addition for a team looking to turn the corner.
