Evaluating William Karlsson's 2022 Campaign at All-Star Break
USA TODAY Sports

Vegas Golden Knights forward William Karlsson is returning to the level of play that had always been expected of him in his early seasons as a Golden Knight.

In the team's 51 games so far, Karlsson has scored 11 goals and 23 assists for 34 points, one point shy of his total from last season, which took him 67 games to attain.

His 23 assists places him at third on the team in total assist so far this year.

Karlsson has been one of the team's more play-making options this season. His goal scoring is somewhat of a rarity, but when top players have gone quiet, he has stepped up.

The original Golden Knight was a huge part of Vegas' nine-game win streak early on in the season, as he compiled two goals and six assists for eight points, including a four-game point streak and back-to-back goal-scoring games.

Another one of Karlsson's better stretches of the season was from Dec. 13 to Dec. 23 when he totaled seven points in six contests, including a three-game point streak and two-consecutive two-goal games.

The month of January was actually probably Karlsson's best month yet, as the forward posted four goals and four assists for eight points in 11 games.

This may not jump out as all that impressive, but the numbers were big for a Golden Knights team whose best players all struggled to get on the board last month.

Karlsson was really the most consistent scoring option heading into the All-Star break, having tallied two goals and two assists in the team's last six losses.

The veteran has continued to benefit from the Misfit Line this season and has stepped back into a more impactful role with the team.

Karlsson's experience with this club is key, and he will need to keep contributing in any positive way he can in order for the Golden Knights to get back to where they want to be.
