Even with a record breaking year of lows for the Mercury including the most losing season in franchise history and a last place finish in the WNBA, Valley supporters displayed their unwavering loyalty, bringing in the second highest average attendance among fans during the 2023 regular season.
This feat is not the first for the Phoenix Mercury who have held a top three spot in fan attendance since 2014. What sets it apart is the presence of 9,197 supporters, referred to as the X-Factor by the Mercury, who turned out to cheer for a team that only secured nine wins this season.
The Mercury players often boast about their supportive fan-base who show up night-after-night to cheer on the Valley squad. Although the Mercury had a challenging season, they had many fan-worthy moments including Brittney Griner’s return to the Valley, Diana Taurasi becoming the first player in WNBA history to earn the milestone of recording 10k point and the team setting a new WNBA record with 45 points in a single quarter.
In a season filled with moments, you all celebrated with us, screamed for us, and showed up every time.
