Larry Bird Praises Paul Pierce, Calls Him ‘One of the Better Ones to Ever Come Through’ Boston

Celtics fans were disappointed to see Kevin Garnett and Doc Rivers go this offseason, but they were distraught to see Paul Pierce head out of Boston, too. After 15 years and 1,102 games played, all with the Celtics, a lot people assumed — hoped, maybe — that Pierce would spend his entire NBA career in green. Count Larry Bird among those who will be disappointed to see Pierce...

Olynyk impresses in summer debut, but Celtics want more

Yes, it’s summer league, which is the caveat that should just be understood as we get into any of these pieces.  But Kelly Olynyk looked pretty good in his first game with “Boston” on his chest.  After nearly 27 minutes of play, the scouting report on him looked pretty accurate. He poured in a game-high 25 points in Boston’s 95-88 loss to the host Orlando Magic.  He only...

Kelly Olynyk scores 25 points in Celtics debut; C's fall to Magic in summer league opener

Summer league is always interesting. You have first round picks making their team debuts, assistant coaches playing the role of head coaches, dozens of players leaving it all on the floor as they fight for a job, and T-shirt jerseys. Maximum effort collides head on with marginal talent, and the results are normally strugglefests. With all that in mind, today's summer league...

Rajon Rondo Could Jump Start Celtics’ Rebuilding Effort With Right Trade (Audio)

With a 36-year-old coach and two fewer Hall of Famers than they had at the start of the summer, the Celtics are in full-fledged rebuilding mode. It’s no secret that winning is not the main concern on Causeway Street, where Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge is focused on stockpiling draft picks and expiring contracts to revamp the roster in the near future....

Sully is ready to prove the doubters wrong (again)

Hoopsworld’s Yannis Koutroupis caught-up with Celtics forward Jared Sullinger after today’s 95-88 loss to Orlando in Summer League play. Sullinger is not participating, but is with team in O-Town. He told Kennedy that Boston’s doubters may be in for a surprise this year, and that “Celtic pride” is still alive and well: “You got to understand, with you being a Celtic you...

Full Court Press: 2013 MLB All-Star Game Rosters, Paul Pierce at WSOP, Hot Weapon Wielding Women

Click on photo to see the AL & NL Rosters for the 2013 MLB All-Star Game What are we making of Chris Davis? The guy is absolutely destroying the ball. I know he was a top prospect, but he sucked with the Rangers. Did he finally figure it out or…. I hate that we have to think that way. Regardless, Davis is deservedly headed to the All-Star game with a few of his teammates. Guy...

Stevens, Olynyk Intro’d To Celtics Fans

Fans of the Celtics finally got introduced to the team’s new coach, Brad Stevens, over the weekend. He got off to a good start by saying all the right things.
