The only McDonald’s All-American to be recruited by Bruce Weber, and the 2010 state of Illinois Mr. Basketball Jereme Richmond has finally found a place to play basketball again, in the Premier League. No, not that Premier League, the world’s finest soccer association in England. The ex-Illini forward will play for the Sauk Valley Predators in the Premier Basketball League, the team announced last night. In Champaign, Richmond averaged 7.6 points as a freshman. Defining obvious logic and reason, he declared for the NBA draft after just one season and predictably went unselected. Then things got even worse. He was arrested on Aug. 8 on felony charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon. He allegedly beat his girlfriend’s face with a handgun, or as I call it in my household, “our regular Tuesday night ritual.” He was sentenced to 18 months of probation in the Lake County Circuit Court after pleading guilty in January. Former Illini Richmond to play in Premier League

Former Illinois basketball player Jereme Richmond has agreed to a contract with the Sauk Valley Predators of the Premier Basketball League as the former prep star attempts to get his career and life back on track.
