Kansas Basketball: First exhibition game

Last night the most talented Kansas basketball team Bill Self has ever coached took the floor for the first time. Although it was an exhibition game against Pitt State, there are a lot of things to take away from the game. The Jayhawks won the game in convincing fashion with a final score of 97-57, but it was not a dominating performance. For most of the first half, the Gorillas...

Bill Self Gets Creative with Jahlil Okafor and Tyus Jones on Campus

The Kansas Jayhawks basketball team held a scrimmage on Saturday morning that Bill Self said was for the fans who couldn't get in the doors at KU's Late Night in the Phog two weeks ago. It was a good reason. Kansas had to turn away thousands of fans two weeks ago. But if Self was being honest, he would have said the scrimmage, the first of its kind in his tenure at Kansas...

Kansas' Naadir Tharpe suspended due to playing basketball

One great thing about covering the NCAA is the never ending parade of stupid rules rising to the surface. In today's exhibition of dumbassery, Kansas Jayhawks junior guard Naadir Tharpe has been suspended for one game for playing in a summer league basketball game. Is it illegal to play in summer league games? Of course not, but players are only allowed to play in them in...

Wiggins shines in debut for Kansas, but fails impress everybody at Pitt State

They tried to open up the back door for him, so you-know-who could do the you-know-what and bring the bloody house down, nice and early. But when Andrew Wiggins got the ball on the far right wing for the first time in a real-life college game (well, OK, it was an exhibition) against a real-life college opponent (well, OK, Pittsburg State), he shot-faked his defender back with a...

Who should be the Preseason Player of the Year: Marcus Smart or Andrew Wiggins?

Dauster: The way the season breaks down it seems that there are really only two logical choices for Preseason National Player of the Year: Oklahoma State sophmore point guard Marcus Smart and Kansas freshman Andrew Wiggins, a battle made all-the-more juicy by the fact that they represent the two favorites in the Big 12 race. When it comes down to it, I always err on the side of...

Then the Bucks went out and outscored the Knicks 52-34 in the second half of a loss in New York in their season opener, and it’s safe to wonder if these Bucks might not be so awful...
