When New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera finally hangs up his cleats following this season, it's possible he might have another job already lined up. For absolutely no reason, the Harlem Globetrotters "drafted" the all-time saves leader on Tuesday. “And in the fourth quarter, when the Globetrotters need to close out a game, who better than the best closer of all-time?" team CEO Kurt Schneider said.  "Mariano Rivera has made a living by finishing off opponents. We always have a place on our roster for winning athletes with that kind of mindset.  His charitable work through the Mariano Rivera Foundation also embodies the spirit of the Globetrotters giving back to the community.” Also selected to join the pretend basketball team to play pretend basketball...lady hoopster Brittney Griner (who promptly declined the invite), College Slam Dunk Champ Doug Anderson and two guys called Tyrone Davis and Corey Law. In case you were wondering, even at 6'2", Rivera would be one of the shorter members of the Globetrotters and, clearly, the oldest.  And that doesn't even begin to address his ability (or inability, probably) to play basketball. "It wasn't a game that I was crazy about. I like to watch it," Rivera said.  "I do love to watch it, especially the [NBA] playoffs. But that's all I know about basketball." Professional baseball players moonlighting for the famous team isn't all that new of an idea.  Matter of fact, there have been four Hall of Famers that have previously donned the famed red, white and blue...Lou Brock, Bob Gibson, Fergie Jenkins and Satchel Paige.
