As much as I hate the Yankees, I have to give them their due. They shut us down last night. Ot more specifically, CC Sabathia shut us down. He was nothing short of brilliant last night. He is a legimate ace and he pitched like one last night. Trust me, it pains me a lot to type these words, but I give respect where it's due, and Sabathia earned my respect (at least for now). After that we go to Tampa Bay and Baltimore, then Tampa at home, then to Detroit. That's tough, and we'll need better pitching than Lester last night. It's very difficult to get anything off of aces like Sabathia, so our pitchers have to raise their game when we face top pitchers. We also need that spark at the top of the lineup that ...

Yankees Player of the Week: May 27-June 2

Sabathia threw a dominating 7.1 IP on Friday night to end the Yankees losing skid. After losing 5 straight games, including an abysmal 4 game series against the...

Sabathia Bounces Back; Pitches Well

CC Sabathia has been happy with the way he’s been pitching lately. His fastball command has been an issue over his last few starts and coming in, the big Yankee southpaw hadn’t won a game in over a month (April 27th vs Toronto). Friday night against the Red Sox, Sabathia delivered and ace like performance, allowing only one runs on six hits, while walking none and tying a season...

Jon Lester, Red Sox Now Forced to Bounce Back After Deflating Start to Tough Stretch

The Red Sox were riding high after Thursday’s 9-2 win over the Phillies. Things weren’t so rosy on Friday, though, and Boston kicked off a difficult stretch in deflating fashion. Losing to a pitcher like CC Sabathia is never anything to hang your head about. Sabathia is a bona fide ace who’s capable of shutting down a lineup on any given night, even when he enters the start...

Four Real? Red Sox vs Yankees 5-31-13

Pete Lepak RedSoxLife Staff Writer Game 56: Yankees take it, 4-1 Well, it wasn't a game of many highlights, but singles and walks gave the Yankees a 4-1 victory. In a rematch from Opening Day, C.C. Sabathia beat Jon Lester by simply pitching better, and it was simple; Lester missed his spots and C.C. didn't. Sabathia went over seven innings and struck out ten. Hopefully...

Red Sox-Yankees Live: Jon Lester, CC Sabathia Go Toe-to-Toe As Sox, Yanks Open Up Three-Game Set in Bronx

5:17 p.m.: It’s worth noting that Daniel Nava will play left field while Jonny Gomes will play right field. Typically, when both guys have been in the lineup, it’s been the other way around. Since Yankee Stadium has a spacious left field and a short porch in right field, however, John Farrell opted to flip-flop the two outfielders. 5:11 p.m.: Jacoby Ellsbury, who reached base...

The Yankees are also the +190 favorite to win the AL East, with the Sox at +225. Boston opened the season by winning two...
