After re-injuring the tendon sheath in his wrist during a Saturday afternoon game against the Los Angeles Angels a couple weeks ago, New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira is possibly going to land on the disabled list at the very least in his near future. He originally suffered the injury when taking batting practice back during spring training, and then decided to put off surgery so he could return in May hoping that he would be okay. It turns out that he is not, as season-ending surgery is a likely possibility. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said that the surgery has “always been a possibility”. Teixeira offered little comment about what his next step will be when he said, “I really don’t want to talk about anything right now. We’ll discuss it at the appropriate time.” During his time back with the Yankees, Teixeira has hit .151/.270/.340 with three home runs and 12 runs batted in during 15 games played.
