Alex Rodriguez seems to be doing everything he can to get on the Yankees’ bad side. First, his tweet announcing he was cleared to play again angered general manager Brian Cashman, next, the third baseman went AWOL before a scheduled rehab game. A-Rod was interviewed Friday by Major League Baseball about his involvement with Biogenesis, a Miami anti-aging clinic at the center of a performance-enhancing drug scandal. After that meeting, Rodriguez was slated to start in his seventh rehab game with the Single-A Tampa Yankees but he never showed up at George M. Steinbrenner Field, according to a report from the New York Post. Organization officials struggled to get a hold of A-Rod after his meeting in Tampa with MLB, and Rodriguez eventually informed the team that he wasn’t going to be playing Friday night, which, apparently, didn’t go over very well. The game ended up being postponed because of rain anyway, but sources told the New York Post that Rodriguez had enough time to get from the nearby location where he was questioned to the park before any official word had come out about whether or not the game had been cancelled. Rodriguez hadn’t been excused from attending the game by Yankees officials since the organization was apparently assured that the meeting would be done with plenty of time for Rodriguez to attend his rehab game. The meeting ended two hours before the first pitch was scheduled. A-Rod is batting .133 through his sixth game of a 20-day rehab assignment in Tampa.
