Reading Between The Seams:
While all of the players implicated in the Biogenesis Performance-Enhancing Drug (PED) scandal other than Alex Rodriguez have accepted their penalties and are currently sitting out the pennant run, the New York Yankees 3B/DH deemed his 211 game suspension excessive and seemingly vowed to fight to the end with his appeal. Well, the end might be coming. According to a source cited by Andrew Marchand of ESPNNewYork.com, the hearing would begin Monday September 30 in New York.
This date has to be tentative depending on whether the Yankees make the post-season. They currently sit fewer than 3 games out of the second American League Wild Card spot, which even if they made, would put them in a position to be “one and done”. Which would delay the proceedings by days, if not a week or two. If they make a deep post-season run, delays would be even longer. It’s believed that MLB would like the decision to be made shortly after the season to allow the Yankees to understand hit status (to include potential salary relief) before entering the free agent season.
So if the suspension went through as planned, this would put Rodriguez out until late May of 2015, he’s be approaching his 40th birthday (and still have two full years and $40M in guaranteed money). So far this season, Rodriguez has inched out 4 HR in about 100 AB, on pace for just around 20 for a full season. And he isn’t getting any younger.

It’s just too easy to pick on Alex Rodriguez sometimes. It’s even easier when he tries to get in on the joke and instead makes himself even more laughable.

There’s less than a month remaining in the regular season, which means that the Red Sox and Yankees are likely more concerned about stringing together wins than they are about last month’s fireworks at Fenway Park. If not, Red Sox president and CEO Larry Lucchino is ready to engage.
