The Celtics wasted little time in the wake of Monday’s terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon finish line before they cancelled Tuesday’s game against the Indiana Pacers. In a radio interview on Tuesday, Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck called it “an easy decision” that was made relatively quickly with the cooperation of the NBA. “It was an easy decision for us to make together [with commissioner David Stern] as the evening unfolded,” Grousbeck said on Mut & Merloni. “As we learned about injuries and deaths, it wasn’t going to feel right to play a basketball game [Tuesday] just out of respect, and then out of diverting police resources in any way to playing a game. I’d rather, personally, have them able to work on the crime scene and help care for anybody who needs help in Boston, as opposed to helping patrol our game. It just didn’t feel right at all to be playing.” The cancellation means the Celtics’ next home game will be Game 3 of the playoffs. Grousbeck said every effort will be m

Jason Terry has bothersome legs, Paul Pierce is sick

With the playoffs quickly approaching and the Celtics seeding set in stone, there really is no reason to play their key guys other than get a rhythm going heading into the playoffs. That especially goes for the veterans. The 35-year old Jason Terry for one missed the last game against Orlando. Apparently he could miss more than that with some "bothersome" legs. Jason...

Live Game Updates - Celtics @ Raptors

9:18: At the half, the Raptors lead the Celtics, 59-49. They don't need to win this game, so I'm not upset about this deficit. But it'd still be better if they were ahead. Bradley and Pierce both have 11. Crawford has 7.

Need for Sheed? Rasheed Wallace could return in time to play against the Celtics

Sheed's bald spot is one of life's great mysteries If you forgot about Rasheed Wallace, I wouldn't blame you. There's the fact that he retired following Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals, and didn't play basketball for 28 months. There's also the fact that a stress fracture in his foot seemed destined to end his return bid for the Knicks, appearing to end...

Doc: “You don’t stop the spirit of Boston”

Boston is a city almost without borders.  People within 50 miles of the concrete monster we know as city hall can stake a rightful claim to being from Boston or “the Boston area.” And people from all over the world who root for our teams can feel a very special connection to the city. Yet Boston is very small when compared to some of the other major cities in the world.  New...

Celtics End Regular Season With Whimper, Prepare for What Should Be Emotional Playoffs

This was destined to feel a little strange. The Celtics took the court for the first time since the Boston Marathon bombings not at TD Garden, but in Toronto, closing out the regular season with their 81st game in a matchup that meant nothing, against an opponent already greedily counting its draft lottery ping-pong balls. Somehow, though, it felt even stranger than anticipated....
