During an interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Monday, Raiders safety Charles Woordson was asked if Matt Schaub can lead them. “I think we’re counting on it,” Woodson said, via NFL.com. “I think every man on the team is counting on him being the guy. You know, you bring him over from Houston, and it’s been duly noted about the struggles that he had last year. But you can’t discount the year that he had before last year so we’re looking at last year as being an anomaly and that not being the true Matt Schaub. “And the one thing I notice about him is he’s always talking to (defensive coordinator) Jason Tarver after practice. So this is a guy that understands how to get better, knows what to look at, and in order to make himself better he’s talking to the right people to help him get better. So we expect big things of him.” Even though the Raiders drafted Derek Carr,  they need Schaub to help them win now. var ACE_AR = {Site: '898551', Size: '468060', CallType: 'IFRAME'}; Loading... Raiders defense on paper is special; 13 Pro Bowls, and 6 players with Super Bowl experience

The Oakland Raiders have quite the team on paper. To be honest they might have one of the best defenses in the NFL on paper.  The team has a total of 6 players that have played in a Super Bowl.  They also have 13 total Pro Bowls between their starting 11.  That is pretty impressive. […] The post Raiders defense on paper is special; 13 Pro Bowls, and 6 players with Super Bowl...

Raiders camp preview: Quarterback the most interesting non competition

Many Oakland Raiders fans are going to be upset with me for saying this, but no, there will not be an open quarterback competition in training camp. I’ve been saying this ever since the Raiders drafted Derek Carr but people have their hopes. Head coach Dennis Allen and general manager Reggie McKenzie have both said that they see Matt Schaub as the starter and would like to see...

Based on stats, do you feel Charles Woodson is a Hall of Famer?

I thought we would do something a little different on NFL Draft Diamonds since the Football season is just a few weeks away.  I wanted to pick out several players that I feel are worthy of making the Hall of Fame, and wanted to see if their stats justify them.  Tell me what you think […] The post Based on stats, do you feel Charles Woodson is a Hall of Famer? appeared first on...

Oakland Raiders: The three most intriguing position battles

As we inch closer to pre-season camp, there are some unfinished battles over starting spots on both offense and defense for the Oakland Raiders. Although head coach Dennis Allen doesn’t like his starters to feel comfortable at any stage of preseason, there are some players who are starting without a doubt. Matt Schaub, Darren McFadden, Justin Tuck, Lamarr Woodley, and Charles Woodson...

Oakland Raiders: #1 player to watch during training camp

Reggie McKenzie has made many impressive moves this past offseason to improve his veteran leadership, experience and discipline. One move that flew under the radar in my opinion is the three-year extension of Taiwan Jones. Taiwan Jones is heading into is fourth preseason camp with Oakland, but this year things are much different for him. Taiwan Jones making the switch to the defensive...

Former Raiders QB Andrew Walter offering alcohol, guns and tobacco for campaign donations

Former Raiders quarterback Andrew Walter is really going out of his way to accumulate some campaign donations in hopes of winning the republican primary in Arizona. Andrew Walter, who played at ASU from 2001-2004, is hosting an “Evening of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms” Friday night at a gun club in Scottsdale. Contributors who buy the “expert package” at $1,000 each will...

The Oakland Raiders 2014 Season Outlook

Last Season The Raiders went through another terrible season going 4-12. They ended up fourth in a strong AFC West where three of the four teams made it to the playoffs. Darren McFadden had another injury plagued year, and the defense lost arguably their best player in Tyvon Branch during the second game of the […] The post The Oakland Raiders 2014 Season Outlook appeared first on Champs Nation.

Oakland Raiders future backfield - 2015 NFL Draft Prospects - Running Backs

The value of the RB position in the NFL Draft has increasingly declined the past two years. No running backs were selected in the 1stround of the 2013 and 2014 Draft. NFL teams are throwing the ball more and have found out that they can find productive backs in the mid-late rounds. The last time a running back was selected in thefirst round was in 2012 Draft when Clevel...

Oakland Raiders: Dennis Allen named worst coach in the NFL

This week, NFL.com released their power rankings of head coaches. There will be no looks of surprise in Raider Nation upon learning that Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen did not make their top ten. Nor did he make their top 20. Do you already see where this is going? Allen didn’t even make their top 30. Ouch. Raider Nation’s visor-loving head coach was listed dead last...

Power Rankings: Oakland Raiders WR Denarius Moore rated top-32 home run hitter in NFL

Last night, 10 of the best sluggers in Major League Baseball gathered in Minnesota for the annual Home Run Derby. It was a fun exhibition of power, a showcase for players who can change a game with one swing of the bat. In the NFL, there are similar impact athletes on each roster, guys who can change the complexion of a contest with one electric play. Sometimes, this is a team...

The best of Nos. 80-89 in the NFL revealed; how’d the Oakland Raiders do?

Certain players are simply synonymous with certain numbers. It’s hard to see No. 4 without thinking of Brett Favre. Seven will always be John Elway. A pair of twos right next to each other is Emmitt Smith. And the sight of 56 conjures up memories of Lawrence Taylor. Those are some of the all-time greats, players who have etched their names in the NFL’s history books. But there...

Do the Oakland Raiders have a top-20 cornerback in the NFL right now?

When cover32 released its list of the top 10 cornerbacks in the NFL today, there were some people angry about their favorite team’s top pass rusher not making the list. It made for a bit of spirited debate in the “Comments” section below the article. And it also begged another question: How close was Mr. Irate Fan’s CB to making the list? To provide an answer, the editors...
