The Cleveland Indians are reportedly closing in on adding another outfielder. Domingo Santana, formerly of the Seattle Mariners, is closing in on a contract to join the Indians, per’s Paul Hoynes.

Santana spent the entire 2019 season in the Mariners’ organization after playing with the Milwaukee Brewers for the previous three years. The 27-year-old hit 21 home runs and posted a .770 OPS this past season in Seattle.

Primarily a right fielder throughout his MLB career, Santana saw more playing time in left field this past season. While he remained a liability defensively, his flexibility to play either corner outfield spot would certainly appeal to Cleveland.

The one-year deal, reportedly worth $1 million, gives Santana a chance to see semi-regular playing time and play for a team with playoff aspirations. If Santana can rediscover his 2017 form, when he hit 30 homers with a .875 OPS, he could hit the open market next offseason and land a more lucrative contract.
