The New York Giants were embarrassed in primetime earlier this week and responded by firing offensive coordinator Jason Garrett.

The move itself was not all that controversial, as the offense was stagnant all year and Daniel Jones was failing to show proper progression in his third season.

So Garrett is out, and former Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens is set to be the new play-caller for the Giants offense.

Kitchens has been on the Giants staff since 2020 and it is no secret he is slotted in as the new interim offensive coordinator.

Yet for some reason, Joe Judge is not making it official.

The Giants are going so far as to not even present an offensive coordinator to the media this week, which is against NFL rules.

This is either hilarious or sad depending on how you look at it.

Giants Seeking Any Advantage

The Giants are 3-7 on the season and the firing of Garrett may only be the beginning of more changes yet to come.

And things are not looking up Sunday as the Philadelphia Eagles come to town with a newfound love of the running game and as a result, a 5-6 record.

But what advantage is there by being secretive with the play-caller?

Everyone knows it is going to be Kitchens and it’s not like the Giants can install a brand new offense this week anyway.

This is a team that is averaging 18.9 points per game without much of a rushing attack as Saquon Barkley continues to bounce back from all his injuries.

They also just scored 10 points on Monday night against Tampa Bay.

Is Judge planning to hide Kitchens on Sunday while he is calling the plays?

This whole charade screams desperation and is a terrible look if the Giants lay another egg on offense against the Eagles.
