Found November 04, 2012 on Celtics Life:
The Celtics beat the Washington Wizards last night, but it was not a feel good story.  Boston ran out to a 16 point lead, then just went through the motions and were fortunate to escape with a win. Is it time to push the panic button? Of course not.  Last season the team had no chemistry issues, but still crawled out of the gates with an 0-3 start.  This year with essentially a whole new supporting cast they have managed to get one win in the first three games. They are ahead of the curve. We are all waiting for the bench to adopt the 'D' in defense and for Jason the 'Jet' Terry to stop using ethanol based fuel on takeoff.  The water residue has left him sputtering and choking at the most inopportune time. Leandro Barbosa runs hot and cold. That is to be expected since he was raised on the Mike D'Antoni mantra of offense trumping the defense.  He is our own mini-microwave/Eddie House. He will find his way. I could go on an on espousing about the talent that w...

Doc doesn’t want Rondo saving himself on the floor

Rajon Rondo has played a lot of minutes.  That’s probably because, as usual, there isn’t a reliable option behind him to run the Celtics offense. We knew going into this season that Rondo would play a lot of minutes.  But there have been way too many instances of Rondo slacking off.  The most egregious examples come from the Milwaukee game, where a lot of guys were coasting...

Tale of Two Guards: Rajon Rondo and Jason Terry

The stage is set for another successful season out of the Boston Celtics, a team that’s managed to round out its roster with some younger pieces, yet still was able to maintain its veteran core. Rajon Rondo, while still only 26 years old, has become a part of that core, as he’s teamed up with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to give the Celtics a Big Three over the past few seasons...

Celtics focus on better communication and a return to their defensive roots

If you have been to or watched any Celtics game on TV in the last 6 years, you would see either Kendrick Perkins or Kevin Garnett calling and directing defensive plays for the team.   Perk is no longer here, and Rajon Rondo has  taken up the slack. In game one, KG's voice was silenced and Rondo became indecisive with his new role as on-court leader. This was not the Rondo...

Taking Stock: Celtics – Wizards

After every game, we’ll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player’s overall value. Starters Rajon Rondo:  Better effort in this one, which shows the Milwaukee was a cruise-control, front-end of a back-to-back game.  I’m still not a big fan of Rondo’s half court defense, which I feel could be better if he just took better angles when he comes off picks...

Recap: Milwaukee embarrasses Celtics in home opener

The Boston Celtics have some very big problems right now.  I stress right now because it’s way too early in the season to get TOO worked up.  but I stress “very” because the Celtics problems are really, really, really quite bad.   Don’t let the 11 point final spread fool you, the Celtics got blown out all game long.  A couple of Jason Terry threes in garbage time helped...

Comments from the Other Side - Bucks 11/2

Comments after losses are usually pretty depressing. I have to say, I kind of like Bucks fans. They seem like a decent bunch who have been used to cheering for a losing team and seemed quite surprised by this win. Not much hate for the Celtics like there is in a lot of fan bases either. So, in spite of the loss, these comments aren't all that bad. Hopefully tonight we get...

Celtics survive Wizards (barely) 89-86

Well that was better, I guess.  The Celtics survived a nail-biter against the Washington Wizards (WITHOUT John Wall and Nene) after they blew a sizable lead. But I’ll TRY to be positive and accept our first win of the season on the second night of a back-to-back, and chalk it up to the Celtics playing down to inferior competition. Let’s get to the recap:Sullinger got the...

Celtics win ugly, beating Wizards reserves by 3

(We had a late scratch for the recap, but longtime reader Jenda has stepped in with a guest recap). Let's start with bad news. The first quarter was a fluke. Randy Wittman and his assistants still have to gel together as a coaching staff and they take a little longer to get into the game. They did so in second quarter and outscored the Celts 30-23. Most damage was done inside...

Bucks Spoil Home Opener 99-88

On Friday night the Celtics opened up their 2012-2013 season at home against the Milwaukee Bucks. Coming off a loss to the Miami Heat the Celtics looked to crack down on the defensive end and continue to execute on offense. Unfortunately neither of these things happened for the Celtics as they lost to the Bucks 99-88. The Celtics struggled from the start looking sloppy on offense...

Thoughts from last night's "win"

My sister and I with a pair of Rondo's game shoes! I was lucky enough to attend the game last night in DC. I went with my mom and sister and had awesome seats about 10 rows up. This gave me a chance to really watch the Celtics up close and personal, and what I saw was a team that is still working on finding its identity.  The Wizards are a terrible basketball team. I said...

Recap: C’s hold on to win ugly one in D.C.

Celtics came-out of the gate on fire tonight. KG was hitting shots early & often, the defense was focused & guys had a spring in their step. Rajon was distributing the ball well from the jump- he had 5 assists in the first quarter alone to help get the C’s out to an early 26-12 lead after 1. The Wizards bench then got Washington right back into it behind Kevin Seraphin’s...
