 Matt Hamill is back where he belongs, and he has plenty to smile about
Hamill came out of the gate very aggressive in his return from retirement. After some sloppy looking standup from Hollett that Hamill easily avoided, the fight hits the ground, and Hamill is in heaven. It's a ground and pound show from "The Hammer" - shout out to Mark Coleman. Hollett survived and landed his best shot in the final 10 seconds of the round. We learn that the 74 strikes Hamill threw in his ground and pound clinic is a new record for UFC light heavyweights in one round.

In the 2nd it appeared that Hamill gasses himself out from all the punches he threw in the first trying to finish Hollett. Hollett didn't take much advantage though, all he did was try some "spinning ****" he must've been practicing at Jackson's in Albuquerque. Hamill scores a couple of take downs but couldn't do anything with them. Hollett had ever opportunity to get off but all he did was try to be cute and spin around in the cage. 

The 3rd round looked like the end of the 1st. Hamill was careful to pick his shots though when he had Hollett face down on the ground and he didn't put everything into them either. Hollett got back to his feet at the mid-way marker of the round but ended up getting dumped once again by the take down extraordinaire. The two fighters are stood back up due to inactivity and they end right where they left off, on the ground with Hamill on top to end the contest. 

Not the most exciting fight of the night, even Joe Silva looked like he was about to fall asleep cageside, but Hamill got it done and remains a factor at 205 if he decides to keep fighting.


Final Result: Matt Hamill (11-4) defeats Roger Hollett (13-4) (29-28, 30-27 x 2)
