Even before the Celtics lost both Rajon Rondo and Jared Sullinger for the season, expectations that they would make a move at the deadline were high with the team struggling to mesh. Now, with two starters gone, Brandon Bass, Jason Terry and Courtney Lee will have their names tossed around the trade market. According to Marc Stein / ESPN: There’s a rising expectation among some of Ainge’s peers that Boston will instead try to move out at least one member of the Brandon Bass/Jason Terry/Courtney Lee trio before the deadline to make getting under the luxury-tax threshold his February focus. The Celtics are nearly $1.5 million over the tax line for this season and on course to exceed it again next season, as well.

Your Morning Dump… Where Brandon Bass is a little bitter

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “Yeah, man. There were times [I wasn't getting the ball],” Bass said. “You watched the games. There were times where I didn’t get it. But I didn’t want to let that dictate my game.” [...] Bass feels...

Jason Terry and Courtney Lee must step up in Rondo’s absense

Hopefully these two can find their rhythm and keep the fist pumps rolling We all know Rondo is gone and isn’t coming back. I for one think the Celtics can still make a run without him. It seems like I’m in the minority here, but I think that we are deeper than we have been at the guard position in quite some time, and can still coast to the playoffs (maybe not as simple as before...

Courtney Lee says the Celtics are playing hard for Rondo

Until the Celtics lose a game, the chatter about whether they’re better off without Rajon Rondo is only going to get louder. I find it laughable and so does Courtney Lee: “I wouldn’t say that all,” said Courtney Lee, who replaced Rondo in the C’s starting lineup. “Rondo’s an All-Star. Any time you can add an All-Star to your team, your team is going to be better, so...

Courtney Lee denies report he’s unhappy in Boston

Via the Boston Herald: Courtney Lee said that he’s mystified by a recent report by Grantland.com’s Zach Lowe, who said that, according to a source, the Celtics guard was not happy in Boston, and was upset with Rondo’s tendency to dribble the ball while setting up the offense. “Not true at all,” Lee said. “And what else did (Lowe) say? That I hated playing with Rondo because...

Jason Terry and Brandon Bass enjoy playing without Rondo; Danny Ainge says Celtics better without Rondo “is silly”

The Celtics have won two straight since Rondo went down with a season-ending ACL injury, and much has been made about the Celtics recent turnaround without their point guard.  Some have been audacious enough to even hint that the Celtics are better off without number 9 running the show.Count me clearly in the other camp, but Brandon Bass and Jason might disagree with me (via CSN...

Jason Terry, Courtney Lee Responding to Rajon Rondo’s Absence As Celtics’ Backcourt Steps Up

BOSTON — Jason Terry and Leandro Barbosa were working at a feverish pace, driving to the hole and firing shots with abandon, when a timeout brought a momentary reprieve from the chaos. “What are we running?” they asked Doc Rivers on the bench. “I have no idea,” the coach replied. Whatever it was, it was working. That was enough for Rivers. For the third straight game, the...

5 Things Celtics must do to win tomorrow - Magic 2/1

The Celtics, after their impressive blowout win over the Kings, will host the Magic tomorrow night at the TD Garden. The Magic are not the team we are used to seeing. Now that Howard is in L.A., this team has fallen apart. They are a horrible 14-31, but they're still an NBA team. The C's still have to play hard. Here's tomorrow's 5 things: 5. KEEP GETTING CONTRIBUTIONS...

Courtney Lee: "We're playing hard for Rondo"

After last night's win over the Clippers pushed Boston to 4-0 since their All-Star point guard went down, Courtney Lee was asked if the Celtics were better without Rajon Rondo.  Here's his response: “I wouldn’t say that all. Rondo’s an All-Star. Any time you can add an All-Star to your team, your team is going to be better, so we definitely miss Rondo. We don’t...

Courtney Lee’s Supposed Unhappiness, Calls for Doc Rivers’ Job Show How Valuable Established Media Still Is

BOSTON — Courtney Lee is the same place before every game. The Celtics shooting guard sits at his locker, surrounded by empty stalls, having gotten in all the practice shots he needed earlier in the day. After each game, he dresses quietly, pausing to answer questions from the few reporters who break away from the scrums around Paul Pierce or Kevin Garnett. Lee, in other words...

5 Things Celtics must do to win tomorrow - Clippers 2/3

The Celtics, now 23-23, will play their toughest game this week tomorrow afternoon against the Clippers. The Clippers are a terrific 34-14 and third place in the western conference. Personally, I think they are the favorite to win the title. Remember, there's no Jared Sullinger, so it'll be tough. Here are tomorrow's five things: 5. KEEP BARBOSA HOT: Leandro Barbosa...

Recap: Paul Pierce saves bipolar Celtics from heartbreaking loss

Is this team bipolar or what? The Celtics tuned up the Clippers with 59 points in the first half. The offense was crisp, efficient and just plain smart. The defense was solid and the Clippers helped by playing sloppy. The combination resulted in a 19 point halftime lead. The second half was the exact opposite. The defense evaporated. The offense stopped. No movement. Sloppy passing...

Celtics take down Clips 106-104

The streak lives on! The Celtics dominated most of the game but allowed the Clippers, led by Eric Bledsoe and Jamal Crawford, to claw their way back in the 4th quarter. After Jason Terry nailed a clutch pull-up and Avery Bradley took a last minute charge to take away Crawford's game tying bucket, Paul Pierce hit a step-back 3 in Matt Barnes' eye to put Boston up 5 with 2...
