Back in December, it was rumored that then Manchester United manager David Moyes was trying to get a deal done including wingers Nani and Antonio Valencia in for Galatasaray’s Netherlands midfielder Wesley Sneijder. The Daily Express was the first to report the transfer rumor, but other media outlets picked it up.
Nothing happened of course. But as we learned during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Sneijder fancies the idea of coming to Old Trafford, if Louis van Gaal were to make a bid.
Sneijder obviously has worked closely (is working closely) with Van Gaal on the Dutch national team, and says the level of respect he has for the 62-year-old means he couldn’t simply dismiss a possible move.
He said: “In the Netherlands Van Gaal is something like the head teacher of a school.
“Not everyone is lucky enough to get into his good books.”
