Carlos Correa has more personal success than the entire Twins franchise. Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Carlos Correa is definitely wading in some uncharted waters with his move to Minnesota.

A wild stat went viral this week after Correa’s stunning decision to sign with the Twins. It turns out that Correa has more career playoff wins (45) than the entire Twins franchise ever since their move to Minnesota in 1961 (25).

The Twins had some deep playoff runs back in the 1920s and 1930s when their franchise was still known as the Washington Senators. But excluding those years, they have made just three World Series appearances in the last six decades (most recently in 1991) and have not even advanced to the ALCS since 2002. Meanwhile, Correa has had a lot of playoff success already at just 27, having been on some loaded Houston Astros teams that made the World Series in three of the last five years and the ALCS in all five years.

Minnesota will probably not be nearly as good as Correa is used to his team being. But the star shortstop only signed a short-team deal with the Twins. That creates the possibility that Correa could jump ship early if it does not work out or even that the Twins could trade him to a contender midseason for a decent-sized haul.
