Mets Fans Made TV History This Week

Anytime the New York Mets and New York Yankees get together for a Subway series, the TV ratings are bound to be through the roof.

The stadium will always be full, but fans will definitely be tuned in on either the radio or the TV.

On Tuesday night, however, Mets fans made a little TV history.

In the 17-year history of SNY, which is the TV network of the Mets, the game on Tuesday drew the most TV viewers of any game in Mets history at 817,516.

The previous record had been 806,047 on September 28 of 2008, when the Mets took on the then-Florida Marlins in the last game at Shea Stadium.

Mets-Yankees last night was the most viewed Mets game in the 17-year history of SNY, with 817,516 total viewers, according to SNY.

Mets Fans Make History

A Mets vs. Yankees matchup will always draw a ton of viewers.

But on Tuesday, fans made sure to tune in and watch the game.

This is a big deal for the Mets and their fans.

For the longest time, the Mets have been subpar.

That can affect TV viewership.

But with both the Mets and Yankees having solid seasons, the games between the two teams just got a lot more interesting.

This means more people are going to be tuned in, because the Mets vs. Yankees rivalry is heating up again.

But this is huge for the Mets.

Now that they are good again, more people are going to be tuned into the games.

That was certainly the case on Tuesday night.

New York sports are going to get a ton of viewers simply because of the market, but the Mets are now a part of that with so many fans having tuned into SNY to witness them take on the Yankees.

We’ll see if they can garner even more viewers down the stretch.
