Padres' Joe Musgrove Places SDSU Buzzer Beater Among Best San Diego Sports Moments
USA TODAY Sports

At the end of 2022, the Padres were on top of the world. They had defied all odds and fought through numerous injuries, roadblocks, and a ton of outside drama to prevail and make it to the National League Championship series. Many have argued that if they had their fully healthy roster, they would've taken it a step further and won the whole thing.

However, the Friars have some competition within the city now and it is not a bad thing at all. SDSU had the entire world watching as they made an incredible March Madness run and reached the championship game for the first time in the school's history. We also got to see Lamont Butler hit one of the most clutch shots ever in the process.

The Padres organization has shown a ton of love to the university over the past month. Players were rocking jerseys to support them, their last games were shown on the Jumbotron, the arena gave them a tribute, and so much more.

Padres insider Marty Caswell asked Joe Musgrove if that shot was the greatest moment in San Diego sports history and this was his answer.

"Oh man, that's up there. That's right at the top," said Musgrove. "The moment of that game from being down what we were down and feeling like things were sloping away and watching them charge back. I was watching it in the JSX Airport and decked out in State gear and I'm going crazy in the corner. It's a top moment for me in San Diego sports."

It's amazing to see the few San Diego sports organizations sticking together and supporting one another. We look forward to the Padres continuing the city's legacy this season.
