Good news on the Ryan Newman front this Tuesday. Mike Dinovo-USA TODAY Sports

Ryan Newman was involved in a frightening crash at the end of the Daytona 500 on Monday night, but fortunately, the driver’s condition is improving.

Roush Fenway Racing issued a statement to provide an update on Newman’s health on Tuesday afternoon, and they said the 42-year-old is alert and has been able to speak with doctors and family members.

Newman crashed on the final lap near the finish line and his car turned over and caught fire.

Newman was taken to a hospital in an ambulance. His racing team said in the hours after the crash that Newman was in serious condition but his injuries were not considered life-threatening. We’re glad to hear he is trending in the right direction.
