Darvin Ham responds to Anthony Davis’ remarks on Lakers being ‘clueless’ against Denver Nuggets
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers have had a tough week as they lost the first two games of the first-round matchup against the Denver Nuggets. Lakers’ forward Anthony Davis was upset with the team’s coaching staff after losing the second game despite coming extremely close. However, head coach Darvin Ham showed disagreement with Davis’ statement as he spoke to the media.

Anthony Davis had a dominating double-double performance in game 2 which was not enough for the Lakers to secure the win. After the game, the forward subtly blamed the coaches stating that the Lakers do not have control on both sides of the court. Darvin Ham dismissed Davis’ statement and had his coaching staff’s back.

Sometimes the plays just don't turn out the way it should. The frustration sets in a little bit. But I don't think it's for us not being organized. I have incredible, talented coaches on my staff...We pride ourselves with being highly efficient and organized… I'll agree to disagree on that one. Darvin Ham at the post-game presser

Davis’ frustration is only natural as the Los Angeles Lakers lost control of the game in the closing minutes and lost the game with merely two points. Fans have found holes in Ham’s coaching throughout this season. Now, the issue seems more serious as the players are openly taking shots at the coaching.

Lakers stars, Davis and LeBron James are giving their all to prevent a clean sweep by the Denver Nuggets, yet again. The team’s losing streak against the Nuggets is causing a lot to the team’s frustration. The team has to figure out a way to stay in the competition.

Darvin Ham said he does not know how to guard Nikola Jokic

From losing a close game due to poor defense and then disagreeing with a star player’s statement, HC Ham has been in hot water with Lakers fans for the past several days. Morevoer, Ham publicly admitted to being helpless in front of his opponent’s performance.

Before game 2, Ham was asked about the plans to stop the two-time MVP, Nikola Jokic. The HC bizarrely had high praise for the defending champion and admitted that he was simply unaware of how to slow down the Joker.

It's like, 'S---, I don't know what to do.' You just gotta go out there and try to be as disciplined as possible, aggressive and consistent, and have a next play mentality, man. Darvin Ham before Game 2

Jokic is undoubtedly a tough player to slow down, especially in the playoffs. After Ham’s statement, Jokic put on a masterclass and scored a triple-double in the matchup. The Lakers certainly need to look out for the MVP contender in upcoming games.
