DeVante Parker Has First Big Game With Patriots

It’s hard to look at the positives in a game like the Patriots played against the Baltimore Ravens this past Sunday, but you can’t deny the game DeVante Parker had. Turnovers killed any momentum they had and the star quarterback was injured and expected to miss some time. However, despite all that, there was at least one glaring positive from the game. That would be DeVante Parker.

The veteran eighth-year wide receiver out of Louisville was traded to New England from Miami for a third-round pick in the 2023 Draft. In his first seven seasons with Miami, he accounted for  338 receptions for 4,727 yards and 24 touchdowns. His career year with the team came in 2019, where he played in all 16 games, totaling 72 receptions for 1,202 yards and 9 touchdowns.

His first two games as a Patriot were practically nonexistent. He recorded only one reception for nine yards in the 20-7 week one loss to the Miami Dolphins. Although Parker didn’t record any receptions in the week two victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, he was targeted twice.

Many fans were wondering if Devante Parker would be lost in the shuffle. Fortunately, such thinking was temporarily dashed after Parker’s week three performance against the Baltimore Ravens. He totaled five receptions for 156 yards on the day. He finally became the serious deep threat for quarterback Mac Jones that the team needed, and he delivered.

Obviously, there’s no guarantee that DeVante Parker will keep the performance up for the Patriots. Despite that, it’s at the very least an encouraging sign for a Patriots offense that desperately needs to gain traction in a loaded AFC East.

The Patriots (1-2) will travel up to Green Bay to take on the (2-1) Packers on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 4:25 and will be televised by CBS.

The Patriots have yet to announce a starting quarterback for the game.
