NFL world reacts to refs missing horrific hit to Mitchell Trubisky's head

NFL officials have come under plenty of scrutiny this season for missed calls. At a time when the league is emphasizing player safety, officials during the early Thanksgiving game missed a horrific hit to Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky’s head.

After making a throw, Trubisky immediately drew a shot to the head from Detroit Lions safety Tavon Wilson. The blow from Wilson hit Trubisky like a punch, forcing his jaw up before falling to the turf.

Somehow, the officials standing right near the hit completely missed it. As replay showed multiple angles of the hit, the NFL world quickly took to Twitter to blast the officials for the missed call and the failure to actually protect players.

There’s a referee literally staring at Trubisky get hit on the head… and nothing is called. Officiating has hit rock bottom

I’m not sure how the refs didn’t flag Tavon Wilson for hitting Mitch Trubisky in the head.

And if the NFL cares so much about player safety, isn’t *that* the type of play that New York can buzz in and say, “hey, that should be a penalty” instead of, say, pass interference?

1. How did the refs miss such an obvious call? (That's kinda rhetorical.)
2. Why after that hit isn't Trubisky being examined for a concussion?
