Arsenal U18 coach Jack Wilshere was delighted for Ismeal Kabia after his winner against Derby County.

Harrison Dudziak opened the scoring for the Gunners before Derby equalised. But Kabia found an injury-time winner.

Reflecting on the game, Wilshere stated, "It was a strange game. I didn't think we were anywhere near our best, but, like you said, we won the game. It's about finding that balance between getting the right result and playing better. The players showed character, finding a way when not at their best."

On Kabia, back after a prolonged injury absence, Wilshere said of the winger, "I'm really happy for Kabia on scoring the winner.

"He's been out for a long time, and he deserves it. I've been in that position throughout my career; it's not a nice feeling, so I'm buzzing he got the winner.

"Everyone on the pitch had that character; that's the starting point for any career.

"To have a successful career, you need to be willing to fight and overcome suffering when it's hard. It's not as simple as just turning up because you play for Arsenal."
