PLAYERS: Rajon Rondo
TEAMS: Boston Celtics
As the Boston Celtics look to the next stage of their franchise history, Rajon Rondo is the lone remaining superstar on a team that previously included the likes of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Doc Rivers. As such, Rondo’s health is pivotal to the Celtics moving forward, whether they view him a part of their long-term plan or a trade piece used to expedite their rebuilding process. While Rondo still has much in the way of rehab remaining, president of basketball operations Danny Ainge told reporters that the team is hoping to get Rondo back for the start of the season, according to Chris Forsberg of ESPN Boston.Ainge admitted that the Celtics might have to take it slow with Rondo during training camp, which begins in late September. However, he does view having Rondo ready to go for the start of the regular season – late October – as a “reasonable” goal.Considering the severity of Rondo’s injury – a partially torn ACL – that timeframe is still aggressive, according to Forsberg, as Rondo would be just over eight months removed from surgery.Follow @hoopsinjurynews

Some things you probably don't know about Kelly Olynyk

Kelly Olynyk: PF/C with PG/QB experience. The Boston Globe's Baxter Holmes wrote a great story profiling the Celtics first round draft pick in this morning's paper.  Here are a few of the highlights: Olynyk graduated from Gonzaga in just 3.5 years with a degree in accounting, and is only 2 semesters away from getting his MBA. At age 7 he decided that he would play in...

Dionte Christmas back in the NBA?

Our old friend Dionte Christmas has a chance to make a roster spot this up and coming season. I wish it was with the Celtics. Last summer, playing for the Celtics, he averaged 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in Las Vegas, while averaging 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in Orlando Summer League. I wanted us to keep him, but with the Courtney Lee trade, we ended up releasing...

Your Morning Dump… Where Avery Bradley is quietly working on his game

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. That appears to be Bradley’s offseason in a nutshell. The soon-to-be fourth-year guard is one of the few returning players who has managed to keep a low profile during a summer that’s been anything but understated...

Keith Bogans’ Tenacity, Professionalism May Go Overlooked on Rebuilding Celtics (Poll)

Nobody was happier than Brad Stevens was when Keith Bogans, minutes after officially being introduced as a member of the Boston Celtics, said his main priority for the coming season was to be an extension of his head coach. Stevens, heading into his first year on Boston’s bench, needs all the support he can get in what seems likely to be a challenging season. Whether Bogans actually...

Celtics Make It Official on Faverani and Pressey

There have been rumors and talk that the Celtics was signing the 7' Brazilian center along with the undrafted rookie Pressey. Today they have announced that it is official. Pressey's deal is expected to be for three-years at minimum-salary, which will pay him $473,604 next season. It's likely that at least portions of the deal will be non guaranteed. Faverani'...

NBA scouts analyze Vitor Faverani's game, as well as his amazing nickname

When the Celtics were first linked to Brazilian big man Vitor Faverani a few weeks ago, my first response was, "Who?" Admittedly I do not know a ton about the European leagues, following only those who the mainstream media talk about as potential NBA first round picks, but usually I'll at least recognize the name. That wasn't the case with Faverani. After digging...

Celtics announce signings of Vitor Faverani, Phil Pressey

The Celtics made official two signings that have been rumored for some time — free agent center Vitor Faverani and free agent guard Phil Pressey. The Celtics did not reveal contract terms, although earlier reports had Faverani at three years, $6 million and Pressey with a multi-year deal. The 6-foot-11 Faverani, 25, played in 23 games for Valencia Basket of the Spanish ACB last...

Brian Scalabrine Worked With First-Round Pick Kelly Olynyk in Draft Process, Journey from College to Celtics (Video)

Celtics’ first-round draft pick Kelly Olynyk is already turning some heads with his summer league play, and it may have something to do with Boston fan favorite, Brian Scalabrine. The former Celtic helped out the new Celtic by working out with Olynyk before the draft, preparing him for his transition to the NBA and teaching the 7-footer some of the major differences that exist...

Pierce and Garnett talk about their "Brother" Rondo and the challenges ahead for the Celtics

The Celtics are now Rajon Rondo's team. The transition began over the past two seasons, but now with Doc Rivers in LA, and Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett in Brooklyn — the reigns have officially been given to the Celtics point guard. For the past six seasons, Rondo has been little brother to Pierce, KG, and once upon a time, Ray Allen. Now a rehabbing Rondo finds himself as...

Ainge: Our Big 3 Was Different from Red's

Having long lamented Larry Bird's and Kevin McHale's injury-riddled twilight years, Danny Ainge traded Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce when they still had (some) value. However, since he didn't trade KG or Pierce when they would have demanded serious packages, and he let Ray Allen walk for nothing, Ainge, like Red Auerbach, still might have made his move too late. Defending...

Dionte Christmas Drawing Interest From Suns, Others

LAS VEGAS – Amid a strong finish over the final week of NBA summer league, Dionte Christmas has received interest from teams, including from the organization he played for, the Phoenix Suns. “I’m getting positive feedback from a lot of teams,” Christmas told RealGM. “Perhaps I get a call saying they want to see me in training camp or hopefully sign me for the season....

Report: Kris Humphries to Guest Star on ‘The Mindy Project’ The Season

Celtics fans may not regularly tune in to The Mindy Project, but Green Teamers may want to check out at least one episode this season. Kris Humphries, who came to the Celtics from the Nets in a package for Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry, has signed on to guest-star in an upcoming episode of the show, according to TVGuide.com. Humphries previously appeared on Keeping...

Los Angeles Lakers And Boston Celtics On A Strangely Parallel Path

Click here to view the video on YouTube. The Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics had an eerily similar 2012-13 season. History has often presented us with the opportunity for a side-by-side comparison of the NBA’s two most storied franchises, but usually in a positive light. This time around, identical dark clouds were cast over both Boston and Los Angeles. As a fan of the Celtics...

Your Morning Dump..Where Midwestern Values Carry Brad Stevens

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.  ZIONSVILLE, Ind. — Brad Stevens was living the life. He ran around his Zionsville neighborhood with a large group of friends, so large he never felt much like an only child. He filled long summer days with...
