Braves Briefing: Atlanta keeps breaking records

Another game, another win, and another step closer to the Atlanta Braves eventual goal to win the Wolrd Series.

Friday night was the start of the three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays that has been tabbed as a "World Series Preview." They took care of business thanks to a two-run deep shot by Sean Murphy.

According to David O'Brien, that home run gave Atlanta 167 home runs on the season, the most any team has had before the All-Star Break. They have 28 more homers than anyone else in baseball. The Braves are on pace to hit 311 home runs on the season. The record is 307 set by the Twins in 2019.

Braves Today's Lindsay Crosby covered the action last night. In one of his takeaways, he highlighted the great pitching from the Braves.

Atlanta's pitchers answered the call. Charlie Morton, facing his former team for only the 2nd time since signing with Atlanta for the 2021 season, with 6.1 innings with four hits, one run, and six strikeouts, walking two. Six baserunners proved manageable for Morton to work around, especially with a double play and two caught stealings lightening the load.
The Braves relievers bullpen for a scoreless two and two-thirds innings, with both AJ Minter and Nick Anderson registering holds and Raisel Iglesias picking up his sixteenth save of the year with a scoreless ninth.
For the game, Atlanta pitchers allowed six hits, three walks, and struck out nine.
