The Milwaukee Brewers have a reputation for developing hard-throwing arms in their farm system. In recent years, names like Abner Uribe and Jacob Misiorowski have grabbed headlines with their elite velocity, while Shane Smith, a Rule 5 pick by the White Sox, was also up there velocity wise. Now, another emerging pitcher is joining that conversation, lighting up radar guns with triple-digit heat and drawing serious attention in the process.
2023 13th round pick Brett Wichrowski turned some heads during spring training this year when he reported throwing in the upper 90s and touching 101 MPH. His velocity has hung out in the 95 MPH range all season, until September 16 when he suddenly was sitting at 97-98 MPH and touching 100 MPH.
Wichrowski is sitting 97-98 and is running it up to 100. This is ridiculous

When Wichrowski was drafted, he sat in the low 90s velocity wise. This big jump has been an incredible development and has significantly increased his prospect stock. He is likely to crack the organization’s top 30 prospect list once the season ends as he’s pitched quite well this year, posting a 3.44 ERA over 22 starts in Double-A.
