Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have created a terrific duo in Boston, becoming one of the most promising partnerships in the association right now. They have struggled a little to get things going, but this season things are finally starting to look good for these two, leading the Boston Celtics to compete in a stacked Eastern Conference.

Nevertheless, some people still doubt that Tatum and Brown are a good duo, with some suggesting they need to take different routes and get some assets for the Celtics in return. Well, not everybody thinks that way, and a former player recently revealed what they need to do to become an elite duo.

Antoine Walker had a conversation with Sirius XM NBA Radio, where he discussed the roles of Tatum and Brown on the team. For the former Celtic, they need to know when each of them is having a great night, accept that and give them the key of the car for the rest of the game.

“It’s always tough when two guys don’t need each other on the offensive end. They don’t need each other to score the basketball, both of these guys can handle, create their own shot. Both of them are capable of getting 30-35 on any given night, but what’s going to make them special is one guy has to recognize when one guy has got it going on.

And, once they learn to respect that and understand they’re still going to get the individual accolades, regardless of what’s going on, we’re both still gonna make our same contracts and make big money, and the common goal is to win, then they’ll get it,” Walker said.

This has been a common topic around the league this season. Tatum and Brown are incredibly talented and young, so the Celtics have a bright future ahead. However, to capitalize and make the most out of these two, the players need to know when it's the right time to step back and when they need to take over games. Once they find that balance, things will get a lot better for the 17-time NBA champions.
