The Houston Texans have found their new lead back in Devin Singletary and it was only a matter of time.
During the last two games with running back Dameon Pierce sidelined due to injury, Singletary has exploded onto the scene for the Texans offense.
His explosiveness has given the Texans offense a new aspect to work with, and that was shown in Week 11's win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Singletary had 22 carries for 112 rushing yards and one touchdown in Sunday's win. Singletary was solely used as the lead back on Sunday with no other player on the roster having more than one rushing attempt the entire game.
It's the second straight week that Singletary carried the ball over 20 times after logging a career-high 30 carries for 150 rushing yards against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10. The last two wins for the Texans haven't been pretty wins, but the team is showing they can win the ugly games thanks to their running game with Singletary as the starter.
Singletary was awarded with the AFC Offensive Player of the Week and FedEx Ground Player of the Week honors following his performance back in Week 10 and has shown he can be a legitimate weapon in the Texans young offense.

It’s the third week that a Texan was given the award. CJ Stroud won last week, and Blake Cashman won AFC defensive player of the week in Week 6.
In just the last two weeks, Singletary has more games with 100+ rushing yards and 1+ rushing touchdown than running back Dameon Pierce has in his entire NFL career. Since Pierce was sidelined with his ankle injury, Singletary has been able to shine has the team's premier guy out of the backfield.
There's no reason Devin Singletary doesn't start at running back the rest of this season.

These have been understandably weaker defensive matchups but his decision making within the scheme has been a huge upgrade for this offense.

Following Week 11's win, Singletary is now averaging 4.13 rushing yards per carry on the season and 96 rushing yards per game as the team's starting running back. By comparison, Pierce is averaging 3.0 yards per carry and 46.7 rushing yards per game.
Singletary (2) has even surpassed Pierce's touchdown mark (1) on the 2023 season after his last two games. The Texans have found their guy to lead the backfield that brings the same juice and passion the rest of the offense is showing while outperforming his 1-year, $2.75 million contract he signed in free agency.
