Kevin Garnett has always been one to talk a lot of junk on the floor over the course of his 18-year career between Minnesota and Boston. But off of the court it is a different story. Except this time around, the story surrounding Garnett has everyone in Boston mystified if the “Big Ticket” really is set to play his last All-Star Game on Sunday in Houston. This will mark Garnett’s 15th NBA All-Star Game and could also translate to his last season in the NBA if you want to read between the lines. I’ll put it just like this: I’m more than grateful that I’m going to this game," Garnett said after Wednesday night's win over the Chicago Bulls. "I’m not gong to act like I got more All-Star games in me, or whatever. So I’m actually going to enjoy this one with some friends and family. That’s what I meant. We all know what KG meant last summer he contemplated retirement, only to re-sign a three-year deal with the Boston Celtics worth $36 million. It was expected to be one final run at another ring for Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Well, we all know how this one played out: Allen is stroking the three-ball down in South Beach, some KG trade rumors have been floated about and Boston has limped there way through serious injuries (losing Rajon Rondo, Jared Sullinger and Leandro Barbosa for the season) and are just over .500 at 28-24 in the East. So can you really blame Garnett for speaking up about this being his last All-Star Game? To borrow a line from the man himself: “Y'all don't know what I know." After everything the Celtics have been through this season, that whole organization needs a break. But instead, Garnett will make the trip to Houston where NBA media junkets await and so do the questions regarding his future in the NBA and if this really is his last All-Star game. It will be interesting to see how much playing time Erik Spoelstra throws at KG on Sunday after he played 47 minutes in Boston’s triple-overtime win over the Denver Nuggets, logged 29 minutes in a loss to the Charlotte Bobcats the next night and then played 26 minutes versus Chicago. So much for getting some rest and relaxation this weekend. Maybe next year at this time. That is unless, Kevin Garnett is busy holding court at the All-Star Game. [follow]
