The Green Bay Packers got the job done in their first game back from a Week 5 bye, as they avoided getting upset by the Cincinnati Bengals at home last Sunday. They came away with a 27-18 victory to improve to 3-1-1 in the 2025 NFL season.
However, Green Bay didn’t exactly have an incredible performance defensively against a Bengals side that had a 40-year-old quarterback operating behind a supposedly leaky pass protection. Joe Flacco, within just a week of getting traded to Cincy from the Cleveland Browns, passed for two touchdowns and zero interceptions while getting sacked just once.
Adding some concern to Green Bay’s defense is the status of safety Javon Bullard, who did not finish the Cincy game due to an apparent injury.
The win over the Bengals came with some worrisome news for Green Bay, particularly on the injury front. Bullard left the contest in the second quarter after a collision with a Cincinnati player. He was ruled out for the rest of the contest after getting evaluated for a concussion.
However, it appears that Bullard has avoided a much more serious scenario.
Matt LaFleur says Javon Bullard is not in concussion protocol. More of a stinger. He checked on Bullard after the game: “He’s like, ‘I’m fine.’ And usually you can tell if a guy is dinged up or not. I’m certainly not a medical professional, but those guys took him through, he got evaluated, and he’s fine.”
Hopefully for Bullard and the Packers, he will be ready to give it a go in Week 7, when Green Bay faces the Arizona Cardinals on the road.
So far in the 2025 campaign, Bullard has 27 combined tackles and two tackles for loss in five game (four starts).
