Tottenham Hotspur have secured the services of Herbie James, the highly-rated 16-year-old winger from Premier League rivals Manchester City.

James has signed a three-year pre-agreement with the London club, indicating Tottenham’s commitment to investing in young, high-potential players.

James joined Manchester City in 2018, when he was just 11 years old, and has been a standout player in the club’s academy ever since. The youngster upon joining City, expressed his excitement at joining the club and playing in the academy, which he had dreamed of doing since he started playing football.

Almost 5 years later, he is now set to leave the Citizens. The Secret Scout reports that the ‘exciting winger’ has signed a pre-agreement with the North London club.

Tottenham’s recent transfer strategy is based on investing in young, high-potential players, with the likes of Bryan Gil, Djed Spence, Destiny Udogie being some of the most recent examples.

Tottenham’s transfer strategy was at the heart of the disagreement between the now-sacked Antonio Conte and the club’s board. Conte’s preference for more established, proven stars was at odds with the club’s approach, which favours younger players with resale value.

Tottenham’s search for a new manager is ongoing, with Julian Nagelsmann, Mauricio Pochettino, Roberto De Zerbi, and Luis Enrique some of the candidates heavily linked with the club. In the meantime, Cristian Stellini is set to take charge of the club as interim manager, with Ryan Mason as his assistant.

James is widely regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in English football and is expected to have a bright future ahead of him. Tottenham’s investment in the young winger is a significant statement of intent, as the club seeks to build for the future and establish itself as a top Premier League side.
