Manchester United have already opened talks with Qatari investors.

Reports this week suggest that investors from the Middle East are interested in buying Manchester United.

In an updated article from the Daily Mail it is claimed that the Qatari investors have already opened talks with Manchester United regarding a potential takeover. The report adds that the £6 billion price tag that the Glazers had in mind is seen as unrealistic.

That could mean the Glazer family will have to settle for an offer worth between £4.1bn and £4.5bn.

However, there is a growing fear that the Americans could opt to investment in exchange for a minority stake, if they can’t settle on a price for a full takeover.

Furthermore, the deadline for bids — set by The Raine Group — is a week on Friday (February 17).

At Stretty News, we have always urged caution when it came to the prospect of Qatari ownership. It would be truly horrific to see Manchester United become a sportswashing project.

It should go without saying that this club doesn’t need a sugar daddy, but we don’t know any proper United fans with £4-5bn sitting in their bank accounts.

Amnesty International issued a statement in response to the reports on Wednesday and urged the Premier League to wake up.

We are not Man City, Chelsea or Newcastle!
