One of the most talked-about aspects of ‘Agatha All Along’ was the possibility of Mephisto, a powerful demon in Marvel comics, making an appearance. This character has been a subject of intense speculation since the release of ‘WandaVision’.
Fans were eagerly theorized about his involvement in Wanda’s transformation. While Mephisto never materialized in ‘WandaVision’, a mention of the demon in ‘Agatha All Along’ has fans excited.
In a recent interview with THR, the ‘Agatha All Along‘ showrunner Jac Schaeffer addressed the Mephisto rumors head-on. She revealed that the decision to include a reference to the character was a collaborative effort between herself, producer Mary Livanos, Marvel’s TV head Brad Winderbaum, and Kevin Feige.
Schaeffer emphasized that the inclusion of Mephisto was a larger decision than she could make on her own. “It was a conversation with executive producer Mary Livanos, Brad, and Kevin, but it is a mention that is larger than me and this show. It is the larger Marvel-ness of it,” Schaeffer stated.
She also expressed her disinterest in the “fevered discourse” surrounding comic book theories. Moreover, she explained that she wanted to focus on the current story being told in the series. The inclusion of Mephisto was a huge step into the magical elements of the MCU.
Another thing that started a conversation was the fourth episode of the show. In a pivotal scene between Agatha and Rio, it’s revealed that Teen is not Agatha’s deceased son, Nicholas Scratch. The revelation casts doubt on the authenticity of Rio’s claims.
Her character has proven to be manipulative and untrustworthy in the past. However, Schaeffer suggests that the audience should focus on the complex dynamics between Agatha and Rio rather than getting caught up in the truth or falsehood of Teen’s identity.
“I just think it’s about the dynamic between Agatha and Rio. At this point in the story, it’s impossible for them to find each other, and that’s the real question,” she stated. Moreover, the scene highlights the intense chemistry and passion between Agatha and Rio. However, it also raises questions about Rio’s intentions.
