The Green Bay Packers have had a slow start to the 2026 NFL offseason. They have seen more players leave than arrive, leaving fans feeling uneasy.
Green Bay has seen several key players move on, including quarterback Malik Willis, pass rusher Rashan Gary, wide receiver Romeo Doubs, linebacker Quay Walker, cornerback Nate Hobbs and offensive linemen Elgton Jenkins and Rasheed Walker.
The Packers still have clear needs to address, but Brian Gutekunst and the front office have time to sort them out. With Micah Parsons recovering from injury, the Packers could look to add help off the edge, especially after moving on from Gary. With that in mind, Green Bay has been linked to a possible move for a key 2025 starter from the Dallas Cowboys.
Sports Illustrated’s Bill Huber believes Jadeveon Clowney could be a logical free agency target for the Packers.
The 33-year-old joined the Cowboys early in the regular season to help fill the void left by Parsons. He made a strong impact, and there was talk that Dallas wanted to keep him. Up to this point, that move has not happened. Clowney appeared in 13 games last season, finishing with 41 total tackles, 8.5 sacks, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and four passes defended.
Clowney, the No. 1 overall pick by the Houston Texans in the 2014 NFL Draft, has not fully matched the expectations that followed him into the league. Many believed he could become a dominant star, but he has instead settled in as a reliable contributor.
The question now is whether the Packers should look at bringing him in to help fill the gap left by Parsons.
In the end, getting to the quarterback drives success in the NFL. With Parsons working his way back from a torn ACL, it makes sense for Green Bay to build strong depth at the position.
The Packers clearly have options at pass rusher, but the lack of experience and proven production could be a concern. If the cost is right, Clowney would be a strong fit for Green Bay. In a season where the team is aiming for a Super Bowl run, adding a player like him could have a big impact down the stretch.
