‘3 Body Problem’ Creators Recall Pulling A Prank On Actress Eiza González With A Fake ChatGPT Script

3 Body Problem‘ might be a super serious show, but its cast and crew are a group of expert pranksters. David Benioff and Dan Weiss, the masterminds behind the sci-fi Netflix show, are also top-notch thinkers when it comes to pranking people. Their latest victim was the show’s pivotal actress Eiza González.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the duo revealed that they prepared a fake script for González, who plays Auggie Salazar, a nanotech pioneer in their science fiction series, complete with a ridiculously long monologue. Here’s all about it.

During a recent interview, ‘3 Body Problem‘ co-creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss revealed that they almost got Eiza González into believing that she needs to carry out a brain-tiring task as part of the show’s script. “We gave Eiza a monologue — a three-page monologue mostly written by ChatGPT, that she was supposed to learn the next day,” Weiss said, giggling at the memory.

The script penned by AI with some tweaks from Benioff and Weiss was a nonsensical ramble about a swimming pool. It also included a bizarre requirement asking González to memorize 50 or 60 digits of Pi. “Or, I think it did?” Benioff added, admitting, “I don’t know Pi well enough to know.”

The scene was elaborate, but it could never really be executed. “Bernie was so tired, at that point she was like, ‘I don’t have the energy to pretend fake things are happening because there are 500 real things that are happening,’” Weiss said, adding that Caulfield informed González that “no, you don’t have to learn a monologue about a swimming pool that lasts three pages.”

David Benioff And Dan Weiss Have A Penchant For Pulling Pranks On Their Cast

This isn’t the first time that David Benioff and Dan Weiss have pulled such a prank on their actors. Back in their ‘Game of Thrones‘ days, it was famously known how they pranked Kit Harington and Alfie Allen with fake scripts involving Jon Snow’s face being burned off and Theon Greyjoy meeting an untimely end in season 2.

Based on Liu Cixin’s science fiction trilogy, ‘3 Body Problem‘ would be Benioff and Weiss’s first major TV project since ‘Game of Thrones’. It stars Eiza González alongside Jess Hong, Marlo Kelly, Benedict Wong, Jovan Adepo, and Liam Cunningham.

The series has already been renewed for seasons 2 and 3, focusing on a group of scientists who discover an extraterrestrial civilization that may be dangerous to Earth.

'The Hunger Games' casting director explains why Jennifer Lawrence landed the Katniss role

With all of the incredible Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping casting announcements, co-casting directors Debra Zane and Dylan Jury are opening up more about the process and how they chose certain actors. Zane, who worked on the original Hunger Games movies, even discussed picking Jennifer Lawrence to take on the role of Katniss Everdeen. "It’s hard to explain. It’s gut instinct. I remember casting a different film years ago and just knowing someone would get the part," she told Teen Vogue. "With Jennifer, she was coming off Winter’s Bone and had Oscar buzz, but all the big-name actresses were reading for Katniss. And she just was Katniss. That’s what casting is: finding the most suitable actor. Sometimes someone surprises you and shows a new emotional layer that’s even better than expected. That’s the most exciting part, when someone exceeds what you imagined." Meanwhile, Jury joined the franchise with The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. However, casting for Sunrise on the Reaping was different because "[this book] came out simultaneously with the movie development. That made it very crazy and challenging for different reasons." One casting announcement fans were especially excited about was Maya Hawke as Wiress. Regarding the importance of resemblance, Zane commented, "We’re proud of matches like Maya Hawke." As for Whitney Peak playing Lenore Dove, Jury said, "When we saw her and Joe together. That was probably at the clearest moment," only for Zane to add, "We do so much on Zoom, but we did have an opportunity to see them together [in person]. We were shooting them on an iPhone and Dylan was operating the iPhone and I was peeking over his shoulder into the screen and could just… it was really like, Oof. You know?!" THE HUNGER GAMES: SUNRISE ON THE REAPING will revisit the world of Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. The rest of the cast includes Joseph Zada, Ralph Fiennes, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Molly McCann, Iona Bell, Lili Taylor, Ben Wang, Kelvin Harrison Jr., McKenna Grace, Jesse Plemons, Glenn Close, and Billy Porter. Sunrise on the Reaping will be released in theaters on November 20, 2026.

Cowboys DE fighting for a roster spot seemingly pulled from opening practice after making a mistake that sounds just like him

Defensive end is going to be one of the most exciting battles to watch throughout Dallas Cowboys training camp. One of the biggest reasons why is Sam Williams, who is somewhat of an X-factor ahead of the 2025 NFL season. During limited playing time early in his career, Williams displayed dominant play. However, off-the-field trouble and most recently, a season-ending injury in 2024, has kept him from making that next leap. Now, it's unclear where he stands in the Cowboys' depth chart. He's a candidate to start while also being far from a roster lock and he'll have to fight for his spot on the team. To do that, staying on the field will be ideal. That didn't happen on the first practice of camp. According to ESPN's Todd Archer, "it appeared Brian Schottenheimer removed Sam Williams from team drills after he hit RB Phil Mafah hard and blew up TE Tyler Neville on a block in back to back plays." Obviously, it's good to see Williams being physical, which is exactly what head coach Brian Schottenheimer preached ahead of the team's practice, but you want players to be smart about it. Even more so Williams specifically, who has had issues with costly penalties in the past. In 2022, he was called for three unnecessary roughness fouls and in 2023, he was called for four personal fouls. This isn't a big deal, of course, and Schottenheimer might also have been thinking about potential fines for the team with that kind of physicality in a non-padded practice. Deep down, however, I wouldn't be surprised if he loved to see it. As for Williams, I can't blame him for getting excited at the prospect of live contact drills after being away from the football field for so long. He's going to be fun to watch throughout camp. But he also needs to be smart to stay on the field.

The Jayden Daniels effect strikes again as it helps add another key piece to the Commanders' Super Bowl run

Life is great when you know you have a franchise quarterback in the NFL, and it helps when he can recruit players to your team because of how good he is. The Washington Commanders have a new norm of being a top destination in the league as Von Miller headlines the list of players who wanted to join the team for the main attraction, Jayden Daniels himself. Miller signing with Washington at the end of his career proved his belief in the team's chances to reach the Super Bowl and just how good Daniels really is. Von Miller's choice came down to one key factor: the QB Miller signed a one-year deal with Washington this week, and he didn't take the decision lightly. He had many options when it came down to where he wanted to play, but he chose to chase a ring in Washington because of the belief he has in Daniels. The future Hall of Famer told Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post that signing with a team that has a good quarterback was how he made his decision. Enters the Commanders. “It was the best team with the best quarterback. That’s usually the math for me to be able to go and do what I do.” - Von Miller to Nicki Jhabvala, The Washington Post Miller played for the Bills last season and saw firsthand what having a top quarterback in the league can do for a team. He also said that he saw similar qualities in Daniels that Josh Allen possesses, and that he can become one of the best in the league. “You can’t leave Josh Allen and just go anywhere. . . Like, Josh Allen was MVP of the league last year. I feel like Jayden Daniels has MVP potential as well.” - Von Miller to Nicki Jhabvala, The Washington Post Those are massive words coming from one of the all-time greats who has played against and sacked some of the best QBs the league will ever see. A shift in the NFL favors the Commanders Even though this is just a one-year deal for Miller joining the Commanders, the impact can be felt for years to come, with more top players in the league wanting to come chase a ring in Washington with Daniels at the helm. Having a franchise QB on a rookie contract is the biggest luxury in the NFL, and Washington has the best one in the league. Another season with Daniels leading the way gives Washington all the potential in the world to reach the Super Bowl. But then, just looking forward, how dominant can this roster become in the next two years? It'll look like an Avengers version of an NFL roster at this rate. Deebo Samuel, Laremy Tunsil, and Von Miller were the first wave of players wanting to join the Commanders. Washington isn't going anywhere, and they can continue to improve the roster with Daniels being the attraction for players to follow the new trend.
